When it comes to slalom waterskiing, safety and performance start with your bindings. The Reflex 930 release mechanism is the industry standard for hardshell waterski boots, offering unparalleled precision and a reliable release. Whether you’re back ballin’ 38’s or just starting with a hardshell setup, getting your tension right is critical for both control over your ski and injury prevention.
Before adjusting tension, ensure your Reflex hardshell binding is properly seated. The 930 mechanism features vertical stainless steel arms designed to lock onto the heel cleat of your boot. Place your boot in the toe cup and click the heel into the 930 release.
Check for Play: There should be zero "wiggle" once the mechanism is snapped shut. If it feels loose, adjust your toe bar or plate positioning first.
The Reflex 930 uses a spring-loaded tension screw. Using a flathead screwdriver, turn the screw to align the red indicator with your target number on the scale. Turning the screw to the right increases the release tension; left decreases it.
Pro Tip: Always refer to the Reflex tension chart based on your weight and skiing level. See below.

Never head straight to the water without a land test. Watch the video! Put your boot on (tightened as if you were skiing) and step into the mechanism. Lean forward forcefully. You should be able to "pop" out of the binding with a strong, deliberate move, but it shouldn't release under normal carving pressure.
Always inspect your stainless steel arms and springs for corrosion, especially if you ski in brackish or salt water!
