Mike's journey into waterskiing began in the summer of 1969. From those early summer days on wooden Sea Glider skis to eventually becoming a certified coach. Mike would move go on to work alongside coaching legends and industry icons, his passion for waterskiing only growing stronger.

As his expertise expanded, so did his involvement in the waterski community. Spending time volunteering at tournaments, judging, driving and contributing to the Waterskiing and Wakeboarding NCCP Coaching Manual. He acted as the President of the BC Waterski Association as well as lead Coaching Coordinator. Mike immersed himself in all aspects of the sport and continues to do so to this day. In 1996, Shuswap Lake Waterski and Wakeboard Centre was born, offering Canada’s best service, selection and prices.

Andrew came to join Shuswap Ski & Board in 2007 working in the pro shop and as a student in the school. In subsequent summers, under Mike’s mentorship, Andrew would go on to coach in the school becoming NCCP certified as well. All the while soaking up ski knowledge and training opportunities. What Andrew lacks in buoy count… he by far makes up for in desire to run more of them! (...Don’t we all? LOL) 

Nearly 20 years later, the waterski school is no longer running (simply due to Pro Shop growth and needed man power resources), but Andrew and Mike are always staying on top of what the latest ski designs and shapes are. Always working to improve and stay up to date with current coaching practices. Our direct connection to leading manufacturers ski design teams, the best coaches on the planet, our friendships and close partnerships with many pro waterskiiers all constantly inform us on what skis work best under which conditions.
