Whether you are looking to slash the lip on a surf-style board or spin a 360 on a skim board, Shuswap Ski & Board is your home for wakesurfing in Canada. As we celebrate our 30th Anniversary in 2026, we are proud to stock the country's most comprehensive lineup of boards from the world's top shapers. We ship daily from our Calgary, AB and Sicamous, BC warehouses, meaning you get the best gear from brands like Phase 5, Ronix, Liquid Force, Hyperlite and more! With zero cross-border duties (wouldn't you rather shop Canadian?) and fast, free shipping on orders over $500. Our expert staff is here to match you with the right board, and we back every board with a Performance & Fit Gaurantee! - if it’s not the right one, we’ll help you find one that is.
Phase 5 Wakesurfers: Hand-made in the USA and the undisputed kings of skim style. We are their largest dealer in the country and one of the largest on the planet. If they make it, we stock it! If we are sold out, and P5 is still producing it, we will get it for you!
Ronix Wakesurfers: Known for creating boards that are incredibly light, which reduces "swing weight" during spins and airs. They use precision machining ("Handmade by Robots") to ensure that every single board is mathematically perfect
Liquid Force Wakesurfers: From durable compression-molded boards for the cottage to high-performance carbon shapes. Reliable, bombproof, and built for everyone. Founded by the godfathers of the sport (Tony Finn and Jimmy Redmon), they are the brand that arguably "invented" modern wakeboarding.
Hyperlite Wakesurfers: Home of the famous "Broadcast" - the #1 selling board for teaching friends and family how to surf. With a tagline like “built to destroy” you know Hyperlite creates durable equipment for the discerning wake aficionado.
How to Choose the Right Wakesurfer: Not all boards are created equal. Finding the right shape depends on your riding style.
Skim Style - Loose, fast, and skatey. These boards have smaller fins and flatter rockers. Best for riders who want to do surface spins (360s), shuv-its, and skate-inspired tricks. Our favourite picks: Phase 5 Matrix or the Hyperlite Storm
Surf Style - Fast, buoyant, and locked-in. These boards often use thruster (3-fin) or quad (4-fin) setups to generate power and drive. They are best for big airs, deep bottom turns, and slashing the wake like an ocean wave. Our favourite picks: Phase 5 Rush or the Ronix Koal Classic
Hybrid Style - The best of both worlds. Stable enough to learn on, but loose enough to start spinning. A well rounded, do most of it board, that is fun to share with a group. Our favourite picks: Phase 5 Model X or the Liquid Force Primo
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What size wakesurfer do I need?
A: Sizing relies heavily on your weight and the board's overall volume. In store we teach our staff an easy trick to cover most riders, but preference, skill level, boat wake size all matter… ALOT. Sizing is a loaded question and because thick boards float more than thin boards (more volume) its hard to completely rely on just the length of the board as your guideline.
-
Riders under 100 lbs - Get a board 45-50 inches long
-
Riders up to 150lbs - Go 50-55 inches long
-
Riders up to 200 lbs - 55-60 inches.
-
Riders that are 200+ lbs - Get a 60+ inch board
Check the specific size chart for each surfboard or ask us for advice. Generally, it is suggested to get a different size board for every 50lb increment in your family. Need to cover the kids, the wife and yourself? Two boards may do it, but it’s not uncommon to need three boards to properly fit your family for success depending on how close in size everyone is.
Q: Do I need a specific rope for wakesurfing?
A: Yes! Never use a ski or wakeboard rope. You need a thick, braided Wakesurf Rope which is shorter (usually 20-25ft) and has a small handle or knots to prevent injury if you fall on it.
Q: Why buy from Shuswap Ski & Board?
