Predator Bay Waterski Club, just south of Calgary in Foothills County, set the stage for the 2025 IWWF U21 World Waterski Championships. Running from July 31 to August 3, the event brought together over 110 of the world’s top under-21 waterskiers at the picturesque Lakes of Kastynstone.
Team Canada, with 12 athletes competing across slalom, tricks, jump, and overall disciplines, delivered a standout performance, earning silver in the Team Overall ranking, just behind USA, with Austria rounding out the podium.

Hannah Stopnicki (QC) – Women’s Trick World Champion
Hannah flipped out when she won gold in the women’s tricks, scoring 7,460 points in the final after entering as the third seed with 7,100 in prelims!
Charlie Ross (ON) – Men’s Slalom World Champion
Charlie clinched his second consecutive U21 slalom title, tying the world championship record with a final run of 3@10.25m/41off . A true Canadian DOUBLE DOUBLE ?!?!
Nellie Allard (QC) – Women’s Jump Bronze Medalist
With a personal best Preliminary jump of 47.7 m, Nellie secured the bronze with a 46.7 m final jump. Fly Nellie fly!!!!
Kate Pinsonneault, backed by Shuswap Ski & Board, she displayed consistency across all disciplines. Kate achieved a personal best in prelim slalom, tied for 4th in jump and placed 7th overall!
Olivia Chute (NS) advanced to both the women’s slalom and tricks finals, finishing 4th in tricks with 6,810 points!
Megan Pelkey (AB), another Shuswap-sponsored athlete, made it to the women’s jump final. She competed fiercely in slalom, tricks, and jump - representing Alberta among the nation’s top!
Evan Kraus (AB) made the men’s slalom final, finishing tied for 4th!
Jacob Chambers (BC) made the men’s trick final, as well as finished 9th overall!
The 2025 U21 World Waterski Championships in Calgary was an amazing display of skill, determination, and national pride. With a silver team finish and three individual medals, including two world champions, Team Canada proved its strength on home water.
